More Details on Sony’s Action Cam

The fine people over at Engadget got their opportunity to check out the new Sony compact underwater video camera and the verdict (so far) is: it’s tiny!

Official word from Sony is that this diminutive video camera still doesn’t have an official name or model number, but it’s “massively smaller than [the Sony blog] snaps may have implied”. The odd thing is Sony didn’t want to confirm that the housing was designed for underwater use, so we’ll have to wait and see on that apparently.

Various mounts including handlebar and helmet options were displayed. Other confirmed features include:

  • Exmor R CMOS image sensor
  • A wide-angle Carl Zeiss Tessar lens
  • Simple navigation buttons
  • A Start/Stop toggle
  • A tiny LCD (based on the pics, we think it’s for information, not composition or playback)
  • Stereo microphones
  • SD and Memory Stick storage
